I'm a self-taught home cook with a passion for good food, entertaining and generally finding ways to make life more delicious.
My love for food started as soon as I could see above the counter. Growing up in a big family, (6 sisters and 1 brother) my mother was always in the kitchen, making everything from scratch. Her food wasn’t fancy, but it warmed the soul. Family dinners were a regular ending to the day. Our kitchen was warm, loud and filled with laughter and love.
My favorite evenings ended slowly. The dishes waited, the food lingered on the table. The candles burned to nubs. We all stayed at the table – not because we had to, but because we wanted to. Someone would share a story. Or start singing. These leisurely, full-bellied evenings were the perfect ending to a long day.
To me, food is so much more than nutrition. It’s a point of communal connection. The joy of sharing a bite together. The excitement of trying new flavors. The love shared when you make something to nourish the people you care about.
I started Sit & Stay Awhile to share the recipes and experiences that will make you linger at the table. Slow down and enjoy one of life’s greatest pleasures, good food and good company.
